Superconductivity and correlated phases in non-twisted bilayer and trilayer graphene

چکیده
Twisted bilayer graphene has a rich phase diagram, including superconductivity. Recently, an unexpected discovery been the observation of superconductivity in non-twisted bilayers and trilayers. In this Perspective, we give overview search for uncommon phases systems. We first contextualize these recent results within earlier work field, before examining new experimental findings. Finally, analyse numerous theoretical models that study underlying physical processes systems

We study the localized magnetic states of an impurity in biased bilayer and trilayer graphene. It is found that the magnetic boundary for bilayer and trilayer graphene shows mixed features of Dirac and conventional fermions. For zero gate bias, as the impurity energy approaches the Dirac point, the impurity magnetization region diminishes for bilayer and trilayer graphene. When a gate bias is a...

The charge susceptibility of twisted bilayer graphene is investigated in the Dirac cone, respectively, randomphase approximation. For small enough twist angles θ ≲ 2° , we find genuine interband plasmons, i.e., collective excitonic modes that exist in the undoped material with an almost constant energy dispersion. In this regime, the loss function can be described as a Fano resonance, and we ar...

Symmetry-breaking in a quantum system often leads to complex emergent behavior. In bilayer graphene (BLG), an electric field applied perpendicular to the basal plane breaks the inversion symmetry of the lattice, opening a band gap at the charge neutrality point. In a quantizing magnetic field, electron interactions can cause spontaneous symmetry-breaking within the spin and valley degrees of fr...

Graphene is a single 2-dimensional atomic layer of hexagonally packed carbon atoms. Graphene has a unique combination of thermal, mechanical, and electronic properties, making it a useful tool for learning new physics as well as a material with high potential for applications. Bilayer graphene (2LG) and trilayer graphene (3LG) share many of the interesting properties of its monolayer relative, ...
